Proving God Great In 2008!

Dear Praying Friends,

School is almost out for the summer here. The Philippine summer is April and May and the schools reopen in June. The heat index is nearly an 100 degrees every day now. “Sobra mainit,” the Filipinos say—“Very Hot.” We are planning to have “Summer Saturation” since our Bible college students will be on break. We will be passing out thousands of tracts and trying to win hundreds to the Lord this summer.
We are staying very busy here. There is always much work to do. Our family is doing fine and we greatly appreciate your prayers. Here are some highlights of what’s been happening on this side of the globe.

Interesting Soulwinning Story
Her name is Parnacita Capau. She is 81 years old. She was saved during our door to door soul winning and immediately started attending the church. She was baptized the second Sunday she attended. We’ve seen thousands saved and hundreds baptized, but the thing that’s different about this particular lady is that she was a Catholic nun. When she was baptized, I told the folks that she had been a nun. She immediately informed me that she never wanted to be called a nun again. God is good!

Extension Sunday Schools in Action
Francis was a 13 year old boy who lived in a village called Matic-Matic. It is a remote area that our church would not yet be working were it not for one of our teenage boys who lives about 15 minutes by foot from that village. Frederick Tibayan is 15 years old and hikes through a rice field to catch a ride to church. I suggested that Frederick start an extension Sunday school in this village since it’s somewhat near his house. He now averages over 120 weekly in this ministry. Francis attended this extension ministry and received Jesus as his personal Saviour. Last month he became ill and suddenly passed away. We thank God for our extension ministry workers and the precious gospel they deliver to those who would never hear it otherwise.

Property Issues
I mentioned in our last letter that we desperately need some property. We are busting at the seams. There are two pieces of property that would be ideal for us if the owners would be willing to sell and we could raise the money. One owner seems to not be interested in selling, but the other is working in Saudi Arabia and has expressed interest in talking when she visits the Philippines in a couple of weeks. Please continue to pray with us that God will open the right doors and provide the funding when needed.

I know I mention it often, but I just can’t believe how quickly time seems to be moving. We are bearing down on the four year anniversary in August. It’s a joy to be a part of God’s work. We are so grateful for all of you who support us and pray for the ministry here. God’s hand is upon this place because of the sacrifice and concern of the folks back home. Please continue to pray for us as we try to pave the way for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be delivered to the Filipino people.

Thankfully,

Eddie Galyean
