A Missionary Journey to the Philippines
February 28, 2007
Dear Friends,
As I sit at my desk to write this letter, I
just cant believe its almost March already. I
cannot remember when time seemed to move so quickly. God has
been very good to us already this year. He always is! The
church has a lot of momentum right now and many lives are
being changed. I have noticed a tremendous amount of spiritual
growth in the lives of our people. Here are a few highlights
of whats happening.
Record Breaking Weeks
Recently, I asked you to pray for our extension ministries
through which we hold Sunday school classes throughout the
city. We averaged about 700 or so during 2006. A few weeks
ago we topped 1,000 for the first time during a regular week.
And we have had 4 record breaking weeks since then. This past
week God gave us 1,224 in attendance. Please pray that will
God will continue to bless this ministry. The potential is
almost limitless as the people surrender to be workers.
The main service at the church has been growing as well. I
remember for the longest time that we were praying for 200.
Lately, we have been over 260 and this past week we had 280.
Excluding anniversaries, these are record attendances. God
is so good!
Area Wide Soulwinning
There are 32 separate areas (barangays or barrios) within
the city of Urdaneta. We have the leadership now and the workers
to more directly target some of these areas. To start, we
have chosen 4 of these areas to work every week. There have
been hundreds of salvations and many, many visitors already.
Eventually, these areas should evolve into routes from which
many people will become faithful to the Lord. Our prayer is
that God will use this idea of area soulwinning in a mighty
way.
Building Improvements
In our last letter, I mentioned that we were taking pledges
for our Happy Birthday Jesus Offering. God did a miracle and
the people here gave beyond our expectations. The building
has been totally renovated and we were able to add a couple
of window air-conditioning units. It has provided tremendous
relief from the heat which was being multiplied by the high
attendances.
Prayer Request
I am happy to report that our health has improved since our
last letter. Heidi is still having some mysterious stomach
pain and we covet your prayers. We have run many tests, but
so far we are still searching for the cause. Thank you for
praying and for the encouraging emails.
Facilities may be our biggest challenge right now. I have
a plan to build a small balcony that would seat 75 people.
Please pray with us that God would provide the funding.
Also, our 3rd anniversary is only 5 months away. I will be
having our first planning meeting soon and we will be discussing
the theme, arrangements, and general goals. We are expecting
that God will richly bless us as always. I will keep you posted
as to our specific plans and prayer request as the day approaches.
As always, we want to say thank you to everyone
for all you do to make it possible for us to be here. I wish
all of you could visit and meet the wonderful people the Lord
has given us to serve. Sometimes, I just stand in awe of what
has happened here. God has used you to help us and I am grateful!
Until next time,
Eddie R. Galyean
